La versione originale di "We'll Be Together" è stata scritta e registrata per il secondo album in studio di Sting "... Nothing Like The Sun", pubblicato nel 1987. Grande successo negli Stati Uniti, la canzone è diventata una delle preferite dal vivo quando Annie Lennox si è unita a Sting nella tappa nordamericana del suo Sacred Love Tour del 2004. Entrambi suonavano in set separati, ed Annie si è unita a Sting per una travolgente interpretazione della canzone ogni sera, ispirando la ri-registrazione di questa versione nel 2009 per la colonna sonora del film di successo "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason".
"Every night after I’d completed the first part of the show I’d head back to my dressing room to get ready to get back on stage to sing ‘We’ll be Together Tonight’ with Mr Sting. And every night I’d wait and watch his show backstage until a few songs in, when it was my time to step back on board again. From the outset of the very first few bars of the song it always felt like a celebration. ‘Together!!! We’ll be together tonight!’ It was a statement - an affirmation from two performers and an incredible band, just sharing the joy and the love of music making. It doesn’t get much better."
