DESERT ROSE
With Cheb Mami
Sting teamed up wth Algerian singer Cheb Mami for ‘Desert Rose’, to bring the Raï style of music to an international audience. The track went on to become a phenomenon around the world. The music video features Sting driving through the Mojave Desert in a Jaguar S-Type, which led to the song being featured in Jaguar's TV commercials during 2000. Sting went on to perform the song on the 2001 Superbowl Pre-Game show to an audience of millions. The massive hit propelled Sting's 1999 album 'Brand New Day' and endures to this day.
